Sahara Desert Dunes

The Crane's

This weekend we planned an event at the sand dunes about thirty minutes away with some other families. Local people were gracious enough to set up and serve tea and we had snacks, took lots of family pictures(I will upload more when we get them back), and were absolutely covered from head to toe in sand. The trip out was fast and bumpy and crazy and the kids literally thought it felt like a roller coaster. When we got out of the car Ella said, “awe it’s over”. Corey was living his best life driving as fast as his buddies in the cars next to us through the Sahara sand. The sun was setting when we arrived and it was one of the most beautiful places we have seen here. The kids ran up and down the dunes the minute we arrived, so needless to say, our family pictures will be real life, sandy, dirty, messy and sweaty. I’m sure they will be some of our favorites! It was a sweet time to run with the kids and play in the sand, because the sand dunes were never ending. As far as our eyes could see, we were aware of the beauty that God created in this dry, hot land. As the sun was setting quickly we were reminded of the need for sunlight to get out of the middle of nowhere and quickly got to our car just in time to make it out to one of the main streets back into town. The weather is cooling down a bit, especially at night and it is so nice to have some relief from the heat. I anticipate that the Crane family will be spending more time at the dunes. Ella could dig and play in the sand all day long. In Lubbock, my dad would come over just to clean up the sand box in our backyard to be ready for Ella to dig in. She would spend hours with little toy characters (usually animals) pretending, talking, imagining. More times than not dad would find her a worm to play with too! God knew Ella needed a sandbox here, little did she know He would give her the biggest one ever created!
