Summer of 2019 Corey and I were driving home from a trip to Dallas to see Aaron and Allie . The kids were watching a movie, and Corey and I were talking. I asked him randomly, “What would you do if the State Department ever called you to come back?” It was a random question and I didn’t even know why I was asking him because his time was about to be up to ever go back to work for the government. He shrugged and said, “I have no idea”. We drove home and didn’t think a thing of it. The next morning a woman from the State Department called Corey and asked him if he would be willing to come back as an agent. We were both absolutely shocked! We sat down that night to talk about what to do next. It was not by chance that I brought up the possibility of going back. I believe God was preparing my heart for the call from the department and the possibility of going back. I had no doubt that His hand was in the details of those days. He is so faithful to show me when He is leading. I’m fairly sure that Corey had already decided that he would most definitely want to go back, but he was very sweet to ask what I thought. We decided to pray about the details and asked God to open and close doors along the way. A few weeks later Corey put Frios on the market and by December 2019 it was sold. COVID hit in early spring and Corey was working on his small businesses on the side and waiting for the final call from State. It was a season for both of us learning to be patient and wait on the Lord. Some days we felt at peace about the decision and other days we were a nervous wreck. I have to say though, that God was so faithful to send friends to pray with us and for us during this season and we felt Gods direction every step of the way. Our family has been so supportive and we are so thankful for their constant encouragement. I can say with certainty that God covered every last detail in this season. Corey left for training in July 2020. I am amazed at his willingness to go back through training without complaining. Each week he would call to tell us he had done better this time around in physical fitness, or how much he had to study for the exams, and I continued to be amazed by his leadership and upbeat attitude. He graduated in March 2021, and I am so proud of him for all he accomplished!
